BASIC REQUIREMENTS
FCChB or MBBCh plus experience in psychiatry or psychotherapy is required for registration as a medical specialist with the HPCSA. This level of experience is appropriate for patients who are seeking to treat mental disorders.
DUTIES
The Mental Health Unit of the Hospital is responsible for providing comprehensive mental health care services to patients. This includes assessment, treatment, and monitoring of those diagnosed with mental disorders.
The goal of this department is to develop and implement effective clinical protocols and guidelines. It also aims to improve the quality of care by conducting quality improvement programs and monitoring the implementation of the Mental Health Care Act.
The Mental Health Unit of the Hospital is responsible for providing comprehensive mental health care services to patients. This includes assessment, treatment, and monitoring of those diagnosed with mental disorders. The team members are also responsible for coordinating with other healthcare providers and referring patients to appropriate treatment facilities.
The Mental Health Unit’s staff members are also responsible for maintaining a high ethical and professional conduct. They are additionally involved in various hospital committees and programs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a medical specialist with a valid and current registration with the Health Professional and Clinical Services Association (HPCSA). This individual should have good leadership and communication skills. They should also be able to manage their own expectations and develop effective conflict resolution. The ideal candidate should be able to work under pressure and with a diverse team. They must also be able to handle various tasks and responsibilities independently.
DUTIES
The main objective of this position is to provide a comprehensive clinical service to the patients at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital. Besides the usual clinical services, this facility also offers postgraduate and undergraduate teaching, as well as training for nurses and medical officers.
The candidate will be expected to develop and implement effective outreach programs and programs that will enhance the health systems’ capacity to provide effective and efficient services. He or she will also participate in all department meetings and regularly monitor the quality of the work.
As part of the hospital’s continuous improvement program, this individual should regularly attend training and meetings. They should also comply with the hospital’s performance management system.

Applications for the new Z83 form must be submitted by either the Public Service Department or through the internet. The documents can be obtained from any of the following websites: www.psda.gov.za or www.dsa.gov.za. The new Z83 must be signed and initialled before it can be submitted.
The advertisement should state the Department of Health as the place where the position is advertised. In order to be considered for the position, applicants must complete a Z83 and submit a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae.
The Curriculum Vitae should be updated to include the latest information about the experience. All of the information about the experience should be placed in a chronological order so that it clearly states the dates of the start and end of the period.
